You cannot legislate spiritual life, the laws or rules are already written in shastra, by studying Srila Prabupada's books we will know who is Vaisnava and who is not. Its really quite simple. The issues arise when fools take over as leaders and convince the masses to listen to their new rules. And when the GBC or leaders break these new rules it mostly goes ignored. Take for example the period (decades) of child abuse in Iskcon. It is well known that the GBC were given evidence of the abuse but they chose to ignore it and only when their in-action was starting to be seen as complicity in the affair did they act. Nothing has changed!

But you and I we don't need to break any rules, just fall out of favour with your local temple president and thats enough to get you banned from Iskcon, not that I care, I was banned many times simply because I wouldn't accept the lies and deceit that was being shovelled out by the GBC and the local sycophants were making physical threats if you didnt follow the line. Well I am pleased to say I called their bluff and I didn't swallow any of their pre-digested crap and what I told many devotees at the time came to pass and the Guru of the zone not only fell but with heinous crimes I must add. How could anyone so puffed up like the so called chosen 11 were not fall? There wasn't a humble bone in their bodies.

I used to read the GBC resolutions back in the late 70's, their meetings used to be held right after the Mayapur fesitval by the time most devotee's had returned from India the resolutions were out. They were laughable then, they often would make the resolutions then someone would later read that the resolutions were in conflict with shastra or what Srila Prabhupada had ordered so they would then change the resolutions many times over...its was a complete joke.

I don't hate Iskcon, I feel sadness and pity that they departed from Srila Prabhupada's vision along time ago. The spirit of the Gaudia Vaisnava's can no longer flow to the next self effulgent acharya because they are so busy rubber stamping their gurus (a bunch of non guru/acharya's sit around choosing guru/acharyas) Basically if you have been a devotee for 10+ years never fallen down (or no one is aware you fell down) in that time and 3 GBC members are willing to vote for you...you to can become guru and have hundreds of disciples.

However this won't stop the next self effulgent acharya or acharyas from appearing and Sri Krishna is non-sectarian so its not limited to an institution like Iskcon just like it was not limited to the Gaudia Math when Srila Prabupada appeared.

It is not very important if ISKCON is "deviated" or is "bonafide". What is important is, "Can valuable lessons be learned from observing ISKCON and its laws and other Parivara, in relationship to the instruction set coming from the Preceptor Acharyas?" The main question then is this, "Will those lessons learned be applied to ones personal life or in ones Parivara?"

For the members of ISKCON, the laws are of utmost importance, because they are subject to them. For "others" the laws would be important in terms of whether or not they are in line with the Preceptors and can be adapted into ones private life.

I have a camp fire burning out back and the fuel is unnecessary criticism and attack. The ISKCON law book? I keep a copy for academic and practical research.

If like me you think Iskcon has deviated then you would not consider it to be a preceptor any longer and why the heck do I need to adapt laws and legislation into my life...simply follow the real thing in shastra and try and adopt the qualities of the Vaisnava...laws and legislation are not necessary and certainly not from a deviated Institution...thats craziness![/p]
