Looking at my family watching TV, I remember that like ostriches poke their head into the sand when they are being attacked to avoid the problem, so humans are just like that. They poke their heads into the TV to avoid impending death.

    Sow a Thought...Reap an Action.
    Sow an Action....Reap a Habit.
    Sow a Habit.......Reap a Character.
    Sow a Character..Reap Your Destiny.

It all starts with a THOUGHT..or DESIRE.

So DESIRE intensely to go back home Back To Godhead, in the eternal service of Lord KRISHNA and His devotees!!

"The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum - even encourage the more critical and dissident views. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate."

I don't know if devotees will like these quotes, but some are interesting:

    http://www.religioustolerance.org/quot_rel.htm

Steven Weinberg, Nobel Laureate: "Religion is an insult to human dignity. With or without it, you'd have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, it takes religion."

    Thomas Jefferson:
In a letter to Baron von Humboldt, 1813: "History I believe furnishes no example of a priest-ridden people maintaining a free civil government. This marks the lowest grade of ignorance, of which their political as well as religious leaders will always avail themselves for their own purpose."

Mahatma Ghandi: "If it weren't for Christians, I'd be a Christian."

    Albert Einstein:
"...science without religion is lame; religion without science is blind."
"My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself (or herself) in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble minds."

    From 1984 by Orwell.

"Until they become conscious they will never rebel, and until after they have rebelled they cannot become conscious."

"Don't you see that the whole aim of Newspeak is to narrow the range of thought?… Has it ever occurred to your, Winston, that by the year 2050, at the very latest, not a single human being will be alive who could understand such a conversation as we are having now?…The whole climate of thought will be different. In fact, there will be no thought, as we understand it now. Orthodoxy means not thinking—not needing to think. Orthodoxy is unconsciousness."
  5.
"If you're going through hell....keep going" - Winston Churchill

Anyone have any funny quotes that make the point? I'm more of a fridge magnet quotes kind of a person ...:)

The forecast from the beginning of the twentieth century by the makers of Mercedes: "there will never be more than a million automobiles worldwide".
They knew more about automobiles than almost anyone at that time but they could not have been more wrong.

Only a short time before the Wright brothers proved that airplanes would fly, the distinguished American astronomer Simon Newcomb authoritatively demonstrated why heavier-than-air flight was impossible. He concluded: "The demonstration that no possible combination of known substances, known forms of machinery and known forms of force, can be united in a practical machine by which men shall fly long distances through the air, seems to the writer as complete as it is possible for the demonstration of any physical fact to be."

http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Conspiracy * "If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation and then by deflation, the banks and corporations that will grow up around them will deprive the people of all property until their children will wake up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered." -Thomas Jefferson, letter to then Secretary of the Treasury, Albert Gallatin, 1802 Power of paper money! Heavy quotes on that page, not sure how it is in other countries, but in the USA the Federal Reserve is a private organization which controls money.

Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe - a spirit vastly superior to that of man..In this way the pursuit of science leads to a religious feeling of a special sort, which is indeed quite different from the religiosity of someone more naive."
