Would you trust a devotee who claims to have talked with a Leprechaun?

One devotee during a Bhagavatam class claimed that Leprechauns are not only real (which is a different question), but that he had seen and talked with one, sitting next to him in the bus. Now he was dead serious, so what do assembled vaisnavas make of it. I am of two minds, so to speak.

Why would that be surprising with all those ex-hippie devotees around and some Iskcon gurus singing Maha-mantra to the tune of 'Yellow submarine'? ;)
I have met so many devotees perfectly willing to believe all kinds of ridiculous stuff, even when it contradicted their direct sensory perception and common sense... so why not Leprechauns riding on the bus?

The only real question is: was the Leprechaun in question willing to chant Hare Krsna?

My brother has such hallucinations. He is on meds to control this. These things are very real to the people who are experiencing them so yes, they will be very serious when telling others. It is not a joke to them nor are they lying (they believe it so it is true to them). Best not to confront the person or make fun of his story.

Then again, it is also possible that this person is "yanking your chain" and seeing how everyone will react.

Two questions come to mind: What is this devotee's status, per NoI 5, and what relationship does one have have with them?

It is perfectly possible that a "shortish old man, clad in a red or green coat, who enjoys partaking in mischief" was sitting on the bus talking to the devotee. People nowadays do and say all kinds of things. And there are pople with dwarfism, they have lives too, and they ride buses and talk to people.

Moreover, more information is needed on what exactly the devotee said that the leprechaun (?) whom he met on the bus said and did.

Also, would it really be so impossible that beings other than what we usually know as "human" would communicate with us?

Actually many experiences in my personal life ,i have these eerie sensations that i have been in this same situation before in a past life!..Even the basic example of catur mukha brahma,four headed brahma...how actually do you fit four heads on a body.Unless it is in a greater dimension environment.When in the krishna book ,brahma is asked which brahma is he?And he is introduced to many other brahmas,each with ten heads ,others with hundreds of heads!How can these living entities exist in our limited three dimensional existence.

Why wouldn't you trust someone who makes such claims?

I am not implying I would trust such a person, I am just interested in seeing the reasoning behind this distrust.

I believe everything everyone says.[br]
I have firm faith that everything make sense, in one way or another, that there is always a perfect explanation for everything.[br]
When I encounter something that doesn't make sense to me, I try to find ways in which it would make sense, or I think "This is beyond my scope".[br][br]

I'm not sure it is an issue of insanity, but of what is believable. If you believe everything people tell you and that system works for you, that is fine. I have a different system, where I try to figure out who is believable and who is not. Why? Simply because I am tired of being cheated by people telling me things that are not true. My system works for me, and in that system a guy claiming to be riding buses with leprechauns is not credible as a source of information.

It is a good idea to believe people at first, but very soon they open the mouth and you see who they are. You should really believe only those who do not have defects of a conditioned soul.

I sense some incredulity. :)[br]
Actually, I think that both my approach as well as your approach lead to basically the same conclusion. What is different is how we arrive there and how we feel about it.[br][br]
It seems you will dismiss a person as not being credible; while I dismiss myself as not being advanced enough to understand everything perfectly. So I often end up feeling bewildered, but ideally, just humbled. [br]
I suppose this isn't a problem you would face often. :)[br]But on the other hand, to me, your approach seems to give too much credence to pratyaksa and anumana.[br][br]
But perhaps this is also a difference between men and women: women are acknowledged to have no authority, so they have to find other ways to make sense of things.

Krsna kingdom is vast so who can say it's not true.Just b/c you might not beat a level of higher realites does not make it unreal.
Hey, look at it this way, one day you might need a psyc... and most of them are atheist,so tell him you believe in God and watch how fast he put on meds.

There are some equally believable/ unbelievable things in the Srimad Bhavatam, in the Mahabharata, in the Ramayana.

The monkeys bears and birds, speak to humans in Ramayana.

There are flying chariots...with horses.

Hanuman jumped so high that he was going to catch the sun.

The world is balanced on the heads of Ananta Sheshanaga.

The gods shower flowers and petals, Gandharvas play on celestial instruments, Arjuna goes to another loka to get weapons. The gods appear to humans.

SO WHY NOT A SMALL LEPRACHAUN???
