I agree that this site is very nice. I think it is great we have an opportunity to discuss about things related to Krishna Consciousness.

I have a request that from the main page is it possible to mark discussions as "read"

I like to read them off RSS (very fast) so i dunno, just wondering if it is possible.

Just when you log-in the site, there is a link to "Mark All Read" under Options in the left pane. Is that what you are looking for?

Could you please make a category called e.g. "Social" for ISKCON's internal issues which are now in the "Philosophy" cat.? Thanks

i don't know about the others, but i mostly don't use BBCode, only text. since the submission form defaults to "BBCode," i have go back and edit almost all of my messages, since you loose the paragraph-breaks if you leave the default (BBCode) and don't put [p] - [/p] around each para ...

from my point of view it would be easier to have the form default to "text."

thank you, but no, i don't want to totally disable it. sometimes i want to be able to use tags. it's a small thing, and only if this happened to most people, that they normally use 'text' and have to go back to un-tick the BBCode option, would it make sense to change the default.

(if it does happen to others, i guess they'll comment here ...)

One suggestion is not to have automatic logoff after few hours. If one has cookies enabled, one should be able to stay logged in.

I also join in thanks for the continued online service, Jagannath Misra Prabhu.

Got a question from a friend: "Would you know where I could find mp3 files of the Sanskrit verses of the Bhagavatam?" Tried but found nothing. Any leads?
  3.
Can questions' search be linked to date posted? Like 'most recent questions'? Or listed by month?

Also, can a mail be sent every time anyone makes a comment, so one always stays in touch with this great site?

    Hare Krishna.

Notifications service can be found when logged in at the left navigation bar.
There is an advanced search covering topics, questions and accounts. Look for the "Advanced" saffron text when in search page.
We are not planning search by date at the moment, as this forum lists the newest posts and comments first anyway.

Greetings, a good free for all site but with one thing missing a MUTE option

Along with (edit, thanks, quote) a mute option would be great.

Should only work like the others (only if you are logged in) If a person is logged and is receiving abusive or constantly over critical responses they can choose to mute that person so they don't see any of the muted persons posts, coding wouldn't be too hard.

In your account section you would have an option to list all muted members and and option to un-mute a member if they so choose.

Would cut down on complaints to the Administrators, I know I would have several on my mute list.

    Thank you.

so far, only two complains to admin in all this time and was resolved. So, we needed not to mute anyone except those who repeatedly breached the forum rules. Some of that happened to a couple or three Prabhus, but they are already back and complying. Communication is our tool, separation is maya´s working.

I am new to this site - What I have seen in the past 4-6 weeks is the following:

Most threads in the philosophy forum start of with genuine question.

Then we get good answers along with arguments stemming from Guru issue/ Ritvik issue / Gaudiya Matt issues / Book rewrite issues and the whole purpose of the thread is lost in the argument.

Am I the only one seeing this way ?

Is there a way to avoid it ? Is there a way to summarize things prior to shutting the thread out ?

as the site has grown to 1000+ questions and 14.000 comments now, admin tasks have become more time consuming. thank you for your input, we will try to be on top to facilitate the clarity of the process and of course we rely on the good judgement of users. Think again, this is an ARCHIVE with all its advantages, lets try to minimize pitfalls.

It is a good idea to stay focused on the topic, otherwise it is not as attractive. Is it possible to have somewhere a thread where you just move all the comments that do not belong to the question? If yes it would help.

Perhaps a good thing would be to more actively encourage posters to start new threads for each new question, as the admin already pointed out elsewhere earlier:

[quote][cite] admin:[/cite]A few notes on the forums workings:

    - Keep in mind that the philosophy of this forum is that the user asks a question opening a thread in the appropriate section and others answer. Each question should be enclosed in a thread so that later others can find it easily.
    - Try not to open a thread so that others make questions... that is the forum itself function.

From now on we will delete or moderate posts that go astray from the original question or breach the above guidelines.
There is no lack of disk space, so feel free to open as many different questions as you may need.

    http://www.pariprashnena.com/discussion/48/from-the-admin/#Item_29[/quote]

Would it be possible to add a feature like a "daily reminder" or something to that effect? Perhaps at the top of the page, or above the "Enter your comments" window.

Daily reminders can be good tools to learn things.

In the thread "Being a Direct Disciple of Prabhupada - Caste System one of the members named sri_govinda_das made the following statement:

Death to the sampradaya proponents like the ritvik babajis ......

You can't let something like that be written. I checked and found out that the wording he uses constitutes a direct terrorist threat and if somebody actually kills a "ritvik babaji" you folks will be held responsible. I'm surprised you let this go through. Please take immediate action. I'm hoping I will see something done in the next 24 hours.

Actually, practically the whole little posting group that is active this last weeks is full of insults and other improperties. We are going to ban all users that insult as announced a few days ago. You can apply for membership after 2 months of the banning and we will see if they read the terms of service at that time.
