ekendra:i wish i had a reference handy for this but I'm quite certain I read a conversation or letter from Srila Prabhupada where he said that the harmonium should not be used during Arati. Rather the devotees should stand up and chant accompanied by kartals and mrdanga.I remember the quote (hence the question and the hope that someone had the quote)...I remember Srila Prabhupada saying that we should have standing kirtan during arati and not to sit down and sing bhajan style.
As far as standing up or sitting down, dancing with mrdanga and cartal is best, and Prabhupada mentioned this in the letter. So there is a specific mention from Srila Prabhupada about standing/dancing during Arati kirtan - is there such a thing as a sit down kirtan?...it would be appreciated if someone post the complete letter please.
