    Many years ago ( 1980 something) after leaving direct temple life but visiting a temple for the day, i was asked to perform a noon arotike. No one was attending as it was midday and all were out. There was a picture in the disciplic succession of a godbrother. I simply could not do an arotike with his picture there and carefully set it into the pujari room. I do not know if i would have had the guts (so to speak) to do his if it had been an evening arotike but then again i probably would not have been asked to do that. But by this time, having left the gurukula where i was serving where it was (to me) a completely chaotic situation, where children from all over the world being trained to worship one of 8 (maybe more) gurus, i had decided that this was not working, certainly not for me. I tried to become dedicated to what was taking place, but finally gave up because of all i saw and heard.
    I can not possibly know the full extent of the thousands of experiences of those who have come after Srila Prabhupada's physical departure. Each soul has to work it out, depending on the Lord for direction. And maybe i am a great offender.. (well, i know in my own heart i do not live up to what Srila Prabhupada expects of me... and i know His Divine Grace is fully aware of this... and some day... someday... ) but i think in my "older age" i have lost whatever (unhealthy ?)submission that made me follow people i knew were making poor decisions for so many.
    So, while the question offered above : "if it ends up being a law in the constitution...you HAVE to do it! right...?"... does not really affect me in my current life, i would remind that Srila Prabhupada wants no "blind followers."
    Also, i would like to say thank you for this site and allowing me to post.

    placing a picture one's guru on the temple altar is a relatively new development in Vaishnavism. In the past only images of the great departed acharyas were placed on the altar.

    ...if the GBC or Temple President is your Guru, then in today's Iskcon you are allowed to have their picture on the altar while you are offering arotik, once you are finnished offering arotik,then the picture is to be removed.

    as per etiquette our service to krsna goes through the guru parampara. so if u have ur guru picture in the altar when doing aartee, i think its is bonafide

    I mean GBC is the primary representative of Prabhupada e.g they are the guru of everyone, because they are ultimate spiritual authority. So what can be a possible objection? There is already resolution about pictures of GBC and Temple Presidents in the temple.. am I wrong?

    If you are worshiping said person as guru, it's ok as long as you are worshipping the whole parampara properly. The question is whether the temple president/GBC is REALLY guru.
