I am interested to hear from anyone with this placement. I'm referring to western astrology. I find it really painful. I googled "saturn in the 12th" once, and I found tribes of people with this placement, they were discussing its effect in their lives, and many find it really hard to deal with. Spiritually of course it is beneficial.

Oops, no question! Does anyone have Saturn in the 12th house? Can anyone explain it or shed some light on it?

Just consider what horrible astrological chart would have Prahlada Maharaj, Haridas Thakur (talking about the beatings on the markets), Queen Kunti with all her difficulties, etc Spiritually, advanced devotees take advantage of the adverse material conditions.

Sankarshan Das Ahikari [if i remember correctly..] said that one who is fully surrendered to Lord Krsna is free from all material karma or sinful reactions as well as such things like astrology.

I don't have the exact quote but I remember it being in his e-course a couple months ago.

'Free from astrology' is a misconception. Please see attachment.

The referred article "Fate, Freewill and the Law of Karma" is here:

Astrological birth chart is a map of the karma you come with in this life. It is useful as a hint on what area you should improve and what can be your strong points to devote to Krishna.
As I said devotees can turn very difficult situations and bad karma into a stepping stone back to Godhead through devotional service.
"Fully surrendered to Krishna" is a very vague statement, specially because probably 99 % of us are not on this platform and therefore not applicable. Better to focus on HOW to gradually become fully surrendered and in the meantime take advantage of astrology to engage our karma in Krishna's service.

What i meant was that if one is a pure devotee, thats what i meant when i mentioned fully surrendered to Krsna.. Which of course doesn't apply to most of us, which means that yes we are still affected by such things like astrology but when we become pure we are not affected..

Forgive me if this is again incorrect..

Sankarshan Prabhu visited our city few weeks back and I asked the question of how devotees surrended to Krishna can be sure that they are no longer under the influence of karmic cycle. His answer is that when one takes diksha and mantra from a bonafide spiritual master, 99% of their previous karma is destroyed and no further karma is accumulated as long as the person doesn't commit sinful activities and follow regulative principles after diksha.

I asked Bhanu Swami about a statement in vedic astrology which says that people with Ketu in 12th house gets liberated, and his answer is that one in 12 people have Ketu in 12th house and that doesn't mean they'll all be liberated. He gave a wonderful Bhagavatam class titled "Karma,Free will and liberation", which you can find it in http://video.google.com

Serious devotional service destroys karma (both good and bad karma)
