Haribol! I heard it's very good for health but devotees don't take vinegar so... what do you think? Why devotees don't take vinegar by the way? Is it because it comes from alcohol so it's not pure? Does it have alcohol???

So far as offering to Krishna apple cider, this can be done only if it is prepared by devotees. These food manufacturers do not take proper precautions in cleanliness nor do they have devotion to Krishna in their labors so it is not very acceptable offering. If you can make this preparation yourself then it will be alright. (Letter to Rukmini, Dec 19 1968)

So far the cucumber pickles: As far as possible we should not offer to the Deity things which are prepared by nondevotees. We can accept from them raw fruits, grains or similar raw things. So far cooking and preparing, that should be strictly limited to the initiated devotees. And aside from this, vinegar is not good; it is tamasic, in the darkness, nasty food. So I think we shall not accept this pickles. (Letter to Kirtanananda, Mar 24 1969)
    Thankful People: mung

I have been using it for years now, every now and then as a tonic and medicine. In regards to VEDA comments, they can be applied to many things and we have to make balanced decissions.
I asume VEDA would not drink commercial milk for even more critical reasons as the ones stated, if applied to the letter.

Is this the same Mishra who replied to my link to an article about dark chocolate (over 70% cocoa) being good for your health by comparing it to meat-eating? ;-)

    sitapati:

Are you trying to make a point or just revenge? :)

Vinegar can be taken, is not an intoxicant, chocolate is.

"If you can make this preparation yourself then it will be alright. (Letter to Rukmini, Dec 19 1968)"

"Nasty" in the second letter refers clearly to the one prepared by the karmis. Even if you take the "nasty" one that does not break our four regs, chocolate does.

And more... there are hundreds of bogus ridiculous "researches" by the medical class "proving" almost anything, but apple cider vinegar plus honey is a centuries old remedy.

I know, I know, I have been unpleasant to you sometimes. But, please do not confuse terms just for the sake of a fight.

It´s not fun like this. Too easy. :)

It's VERY good for your hair. Rub into hair and scalp. Let sit for ~ 15-20 min. Then wash out with a gentle shampoo. Smell is little foul.
